Exhibiting at Milano Design Week for the Second Consecutive Year!
We, BASE TIMES kawaguchi, are pleased to announce that we will once again be exhibiting at Milano Design Week 2026, following last year’s participation, in collaboration with designer Kazuhito Ishida.
Currently, each participating company is working diligently on the production of new works for the exhibition. In addition to the “Kawaguchi-air” series, which was well received last year, we will welcome visitors with a new installation.

This year’s concept is “Transformation – ZEN METAL GARDEN –.”
BASE TIMES kawaguchi possesses exceptional craftsmanship capable of transforming a single sheet of metal into countless forms—a true embodiment of metamorphosis. Through a Zen-inspired installation rooted in Japanese aesthetics, we express the delicate beauty and refined techniques of metal processing.
In addition, the “Kawaguchi-air” chair collection, which was also highly acclaimed last year, incorporates a uniquely Japanese sensitivity to the changing aspects of nature. Reflections and surrounding scenery are embraced as integral elements of the design itself.
The venue, once again, is the historic Palazzo Litta in Milan. Within this setting—where the grandeur of Western palace architecture resonates with Japan’s precise metal craftsmanship—we invite visitors to experience a new dimension of beauty.

(Kazuhito Ishida Design Studio / Professor, Faculty of Architecture and Design, Kyoritsu Women’s University)
Kazuhito Ishida received a Master of Fine Arts from Tokyo University of the Arts. After working at an interior design firm, he established Kazuhito Ishida Design Studio in 1998. His work spans interior design as well as product design, particularly furniture and daily living items. His major awards include the Design Forum Silver Prize, the PORADA DESIGN AWARD Grand Prize, and the Good Design Award. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Kyoritsu Women’s University, where he is actively involved in nurturing the next generation of designers.
