ZEN METAL GARDEN Opens! Report Vol.1
Our exhibition at MILANO DESIGN WEEK has finally begun for the second consecutive year!
Once again, we presented our work within the magnificent historic setting of Palazzo Litta. This year, each company of BASE TIMES kawaguchi was displayed independently as a small island-like installation, expressing the unique character of its technology through an installation we called the “Technique Wall.”
Because international shipping required even more time than last year, we had to complete production earlier and continued working until the very last moment. As a result, the first time all members could see the entire installation together was on-site in Milan. Even so, each company’s “Technique Wall,” created with great dedication and care, came together beautifully and made a powerful impression within the space.
At the center of the venue, we installed a square pergola connecting the five islands. Delicate metal mesh, inspired by traditional Japanese sudare screens, was suspended as both partitions and banners, softly enveloping the entire exhibition space.
We also showcased the Kawaguch-air series, which was well received last year, along with two new additions: the “fog rock” and the “fog clock,” creating an even more extensive lineup this year.
The diverse metal expressions created through each company’s unique technologies once again brought beauty and atmosphere to the venue, leaving a strong impression on visitors from around the world.
Beginning with the press preview on April 20 and continuing through the closing on April 26, the exhibition attracted an incredible number of visitors. According to organizer Mosca Partners, Palazzo Litta welcomed an astonishing 58,000 visitors over seven days. Many people stopped by our booth, and we received an overwhelming response, including inquiries and purchase requests.
To everyone who visited the exhibition, and to all those who supported and encouraged us throughout this project, we would like to express our sincere gratitude once again.
Thank you very much!
